2006-2015 Yamaha FZ1 Airbox mod page


The airbox on the FZ1 is somewhat restrictive, and does benefit from modification as well as a BMC or K&N air filter.

(1) This is my new FZ1 airbox mod... it makes the same power as the old mod with a lot less noise.

These cuts can be done with a dremel with a metal cutting bit, and finished with sanding rolls.







(2) Stock airbox shown here with a popular airbox mod that has been done since 2006.

The only drawback for some is that the old mod makes a lot of noise when you open the throttle.

It also makes the fuel mixture read "spikey" due to excessive turbulence in the airbox due to lack of restriction
which helps smooth airflow into the stacks.

My new mod shown above gives the same power, but does not give spikey readings on the datalogger plus
a lot less noise.
